Mykhailychenko Calls Up Bohush
Oleksiy Mykhailychenko has named his squad for the World Cup Qualifying Group Six match against Croatia on October 11. Dynamo Kyiv goalkeeper Stanyslav Bohush received his first invite to the national team. Bohush has enjoyed a strong run of form for the UPL leaders, including a clean sheet in last week’s Champions League match at Fenerbahce. If the 24 year old impresses in training there is a chance Mykhailychenko will give him an opportunity against the Croats. The inclusion caught Bohush by surprise
I got a text message on Monday and thought it was a joke. But the next day (teammate and Croatian international) Ognjen Vukojević said the Croatian papers have printed the Ukrainian squad and I am in it. Soon after coach Yuri Semin confirmed the good news.
Absent from the squad are Dynamo forward Artem Milevskiy and left back Andriy Nesmachniy. Nesmachniy is still regaining fitness and has not seen a lot of first team action, but could be recalled if he has a strong showing this weekend. Milevskiy is still recovering from an ankle injury suffered in the qualifier against Belarus. Milevskiy was asked in an interview recently whether being on a recovery schedule leaves him more free time:
Not really. I get to the team base at 10am, go through physiotherapy, then massage, and that usually ends around 1:30pm. Sometimes I have to stay as late as two in the afternoon. And there’s nothing to do with the rest of the day, because you have to be up early tomorrow.
All I have to say to that is, tough life bro. Seriously, get well soon and get to work.
Goalkeepers: Andriy Pyatov (Shakhtar), Bohush, Olexandr Shovkovskiy (both – Dynamo).
Defenders: Vyacheslav Shevchuk, Dmytro Chyhrynsky, Olexandr Kucher (all – Shakhtar), Taras Mykhalyk (Dynamo), Hryhoriy Yarmash (Vorskla), Vitaliy Mandziuk (Arsenal), Andriy Rusol (Dnipro).
Midfielders: Maxym Kalynychenko, Serhiy Nazarenko (both – Dnipro), Denys Holaido (Tavria), Anatoliy Tymoschuk (Zenit FC, Russia), Yevhen Levchenko (Groningen, Netherlands), Serhiy Kravchenko (Vorskla), Oleksandr Aliyev (Dynamo).
Forwards: Andriy Voronin (Hertha BSC, Germany), Andriy Shevchenko (AC Milan, Italy), Volodymyr Homeniuk (Tavriya), Yevhen Selezniov (Shakhtar).
What a pathetic performance against Croatia. No shots on the Croatian goalie. Playground style Ukrainian offence equals no offence and no offence combined with a weak defence equals disaster against a half decent team. Coaching an absolute embarassment to Ukraine and Ukrainians world wide. No imagination and no skill other than Shevy shown. If this team continues in this deadend fashion it’s going nowhere. Kick and chase on a prayer gets you nothing but air and this team blew a lot of air against Croatia.
It’s time to show some class out there.

I’m pretty worried guys, England look unstoppable and they’re most likely gonna finish 1st, we still have to play Croatia in their home, and I dont like the odds in that game. We need to win against Engalnd to have a chance. And dont forget we have to play against Belarus again which wont be easy. I really want Voronin to start playing, yes he has some bad games here and then, but he’s got a lightning bolt kick and he’s a very smart player and I think we have to take a chance with him every game now.
Honestly, unless they lose their game England will place 1st. Its almost a given with they way they are playing. Hope for injuries!
