Ukraine World Cup Expectations

March 24th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 13 Comments »

Ok, Ukraine fans. Here is your chance to sound off. What are your expectations for Ukraine in this World Cup. Do you see a championship run, a group play disaster or something in between?

I think that Group H shapes up very well for Ukraine. Saudi Arabia should be a team that Ukraine can beat, Tunisia is tough but we can beath them and Spain should be a cracker of a match. If I were to predict I say we beat Saudi Arabia and Tunisia but lose to Spain. This would get Ukraine through to the second round where anything can happen.

Tell me what you think. What would be a good tournament and what would be a bad one?

My friends, i have all faith in the Ukranian football team doing well in the World Cup. By “doing well” i do not mean just getting through to the semi-finals and being knocked out by a team of such caliber as Brazil or Italy, i do however mean a podium finish is highly expected for a team that has one of the worlds best players on their side. Ukraine have worked extensively hard in order to get this far, so i am sure they are not about to forfeit their best chance yet at taking a trophy home. They will fight with the bravery of a fearless lion in order to make the best of what they have. Seeing Ukraine do so well in the World cup qualification stage has made me more than proud of being fully Ukranian. I do hope that many people out there no matter how you are related to this striving young nation, that you will share my enthusiasm and at the very least root your heart out on the day of every match that Ukraine are going to participate in.

With hope for the greatest vicory for a nation that certainly deserves it

I think it’s too early to simply say Ukraine will beat Saudi Arabia and Tunisia just like that. Saudi Arabia has been one of the top ranked asian teams fore the past 10 years. Along with Japan, they share the record for most AFC championships. They also recently beat Korea in both the home and away matches.
Tunisia also have a very good record in Africa. Although african competition is higher than Asian competition, Tunisia is still regular competitor for the African cup. It would be foolish to simply dismiss either one of these two teams as they might surprise you

The Saudis are playing a lot of friendlies leading up to the tournament and should prove a handful for anybody. However, if everyone plays to their ability and there is no funny-business (see FIFA Early Warning System) it should be 1.)Spain, 2.) Ukraine, 3.) Saudi Arabia, and 4.) Tunisia.

I think Ukraine can beat Spain.

Yes, Spain has a lot of world-class clubs and the spanish league is one of the best in Europe, but their national team never achieved anything serious in the past 20 years.

I bet Ukraine will win the 1st place in the group.

Seriously, anyone who says that Saudi Arabia has any chance against Ukraine is a moron. OK they are one of the best Asian Teams, that means they know what a soccer ball looks like. It means that 4 of them have a right to go to the tournament, and it means that they suck donkey balls. Definitely Spain and Ukraine will go through the group. Tunisia will def beat Saudi Arabia. I think Ukrain will go through the group first. Spain is pretty overrated. Before I go I wanna say something else, I forgot. Oh yeah… SAudi Arabia sucks donkey balls. They will lose again 8-0 this time against Ukraine.

Sheva will prove once again, but Ukraines young will also prove that they are worth it. Ukraine should finish #1 in their group. I wish them luck.

hello fans,
I am highly in consent with “messimo”, he/she has a very valid point conserning the Saudi Arabian team, yet, i am unsure as to how they are going to compete against tunisia. They of course have little chance against the best team in the world (ukraine) but they might just be a handfull to the tunisians. I myself hope that Ukraine make the most of their ever expected chance at winnig the world cup. I in all sincerity hope they clench this chance by the teeth and prove to all the imbasils out there that have ever doubted this mighty strong and title hungry team, the le creme not only of the ukrainian nation but inevitably the entire world!!!
