Ukraine Loses another Keeper

January 27th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 1 Comment »

Yikes.

In a matter of a couple of weeks Ukraine’s two top keepers have gone done with injuries. First starter Olexander Shovkovsky broke his collarbone in a collision 10 days ago and now his backup Maxim Startsev has injured his groin (double yikes).

Startsev will need surgery and will be out for at least two months.

The happiest person about all this might be Vitaly Reva who is the third string keeper and apparently still has all of his body parts in working order. The Tavria Simferopol keeper will have a chance to show his stuff as Ukraine prepares for the World Cup over the next few months.
