Shovkovsk’s Surgery a Success

January 20th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | No Comments »

Ukraine fans breathed a sigh of relief today when they learned that goalkeeper Olexander Shovkovsk’s collarbone surgery was deemed a success by his doctors.

“It was a complicated operation, requiring quite a bit of skill,” club doctor Volodymyr Malyuta said on the Dynamo website. “It took place under general anaesthetic and lasted about an hour. The operation was successful.”

Shovkovsk, who started all 12 of Ukraine’s qualifying games, is expected to recover in time to be in net in Germany this summer. He broke his collarbone after a collision in a friendly on Tuesday.
