Ukraine

On Monday we invade Switzerland

It’s official. We are facing Switzerland next on our journey to the trophy. A country that tied France 0-0, beat Togo 2-0 and beat Korea 2-0 today. I have followed this team and I tell you Ukraine has the capacity and the skill to beat them. I find this team somewhat inconsistent in their game, they can be really good and not so good. Remind you of somebody ? So this game lies in which Swiss team shows up and which Ukrainian team shows up.

This is it, the big show. Poland is out, Croatia is out, Serbia is out, Czech Rep. is out. We are the last East European team left, I have noticed that it is no longer just Ukrainian fans behind us, but a lot of other countries looking for a East European team to hold the trophy. Lets stop screwing around and start playing boys, this is our time to shine.

The only problem is that switzerland have been getting many “lucky” calls from the referees. I hope we can best them! Good luck to us!

Here is my idea of a formation

————-Shovkovsky————

In the back we play Vashchuk, Nesmachnyi, and Chigrynskiy since Yezerskyi is injured and Rusol can’t play.

In the middle I think we could do this

Gusev, Shelaev/Rebrov, Rotan/Kalinichenko, Tymoshuk, Milevskiy (as attacking midfielder instead of striker, he has so much energy which is what our team lacks)

up front of course the usual

I wouldn’t take out Voronin, he’s had some bad luck with his attempts, but I feel if he keeps chipping away as he has been, he will get his goal in the next game, I have a feeling he will be our man in the next game. I dont think Blokhin would take him out regardless

No, I didn’t say take Voronin out, notice 3 defenders 5 midfielders including Milevskiy (yes, I think we should try him as offensive midfielder) and Voronin+Sheva upfront!

I have watched the Ukraine and swiss play their first round matches, both teams play well, but the Ukraine will have to play better defence to beat the swiss!!

time to play hard and put it all on the line…many ukrainians all over the world will be cheering for TEAM UKRAINE! including myself in Canada.

Hey Andriy.Rybalchenko,
I just wanted to correct your idea about the lineup for the next game.
You said: “In the back we play Vashchuk, Nesmachnyi, and Chigrynskiy since Yezerskyi is injured and Rusol can’t play.” We can’t play Chigrynniy either. He’s injured, and he’s back in Donetsk.
Here is how our defensive line will look according to Blochin: Vashchuk, Kuznetsov, Bal’.
Here is the quote, in case you missed it: ” В 1/8 финала не сыграют защитники Русол и Свидерский.

Goodluck to you guys! It’s going to hurt not having Andriy Rusol, i really think from what i’ve seen that he’s an awesome defender.

Wow that’s odd. I’d expect Switzerland to be a favourite among bookmakers.

you said “The only problem is that switzerland have been getting many “lucky” calls from the referees” This make me smile. Your qualification was a clear gift by Mr Marilla ref against tunisia. penalty wasn’t called, imaginary penalty to Cheva… You couldn’t be more lucky!
