Friday night with Italy
So we are in the quarter finals. Every step of this tournament is unknown territory for us and we have already achieved what we came to do. However, as one of the guys said in a comment previously; “we are just 3 wins from the World Cup”. Of course it is pausible, every team has as good of a shot to win matches as every other team. Italy are favourites, but so were the Swiss.
Italy’s Alessandro Nesta is confident he will return to play for the Azzurri again in this World Cup but will not be ready until the semi-finals.
The semi finals of WHAT ?
Well, I think I woulda prefered him to play, as Shevchenko knows him well and would be able to dance circles around him, but that won’t happen. There are a few other players Italy fears they will be missing, mostly in the defense I understand. Also, there was rumor of Voronin being out for the game ? I don’t think thats true as I have not read anything saying this.
Voronin: “We were the underdogs and we had nothing to lose - and that’s how we played. We are not afraid of them. We have nothing to lose - just two matches to go and then we are in the final. It’s all happening very quickly. We did not play well (against Switzerland) - but we are in the quarter-finals. It will be a tough match.”
Rebrov: Asked whether Ukraine could win the World Cup, Rebrov, a substitute against the Swiss, said: “I don’t know. I didn’t think so before but now I am beginning to think maybe we can. Everything is possible now.
Sheva: “We want to put on a show. Italy have a good team with great players and they are always favourites. But we are difficult to beat. We have quality players. We can keep the ball and change our rhythm.”
Our boys are up for the challenge. Yes, it is pausible now for us to aim at the World Cup trophy itself. The team has built up confidence in their wins and are ready for that re-match with Italy to finish what we started in the friendly game before the Cup.
UK-RA-YI-NA !!
oh and by the way, we have full backing support from the Aussies :O)

Guys & Girls,
I don’t know what is going on in this blog polictically, not interested as this is a football blog and should stay as such. All I have come on here is to beg your Ukrainian Team to wipe the floor with the Italians. After the incidents with the Australian team you can be sure everyone will be keeping and eye on the Italians to watch the diving and cheating.
So Go Ukraine beat those s….
’s and you will not only be heros fo Australia but the heros of the WC

Firstly, I’m an Italian supporter but wish Ukraine good luck and hope for a great game by both teams. I do disagree with the comments about Nesta, he is one of the best defenders in the world so I’m sure Sheva is probably happy not to see him in the line up. I also agree with the comments about friendlies not being a true indicator of performace in real tournaments. If that is the case simple math says Germany lost to Italy 4 - 1 then the US lost to Germany 4 - 1 therefore Italy should cream US by at least 8 goals. I personally do believe/hope Italy will win on Friday however I believe that the Ukraine have had a great first world cup and will be a strong player in Euro 2008.

P.s. I think Sheva is a great player I enjoyed watching him this year.

Italy’s training session.

all Ukrainians, this is a PASTA-HATER. I have hated Italian football because from times immemorial they don’t play but only DIVE like spineless old hags, and the way they fix their club games and then come out and say shamelessly, Forza Azzuri. I have also been a fan of Sheva over the years, and so have gradually been attracted to Ukraine, the country he comes from. So go on and do it. Beat the pasta eaters. Andwhile you are playing football and they play diving just get in a goal or three… And tell Grosso and company that’s how football is played. the italians think they own football, so tell them its otherwise. Go Ukraine. After all they couldn’t get a proper goal against a newcomer team like australia.

hey the guy from india … do u even have TV in india .. and if so as if u get serie a in india hahahaha .. ohh and id love to see the day india can play football .. so i think ur a moron and should shut ur mouth .. italy will easily defete ukrain

Why is it so impossible to have impartial fans. It is so easy to express one’s support of any given team by saying I hate the italians, americans, germans etc..etc..
Why not simply say I feel Ukraine has as good a chance as any other team to win a game on any given day. All it takes is one player to make a significant mistake or worst yet the Ref to make a questionable call and it is all over and done with.
Perhaps we should simply no longer have The World Cup and just have the WORLD WAR..
How would humanity fair then?

Yea Go Ukraine, the whole world will celebrate when you win and eliminate these Italians out of the WC. Looking forward to some great goals from Shevchenko who’s had a quiet and disappointing WC for the GREAT player that he is, thus far but I recogn he will pull the guns out when it counts and this definately is HIS and UKRAINE’S time. GO UKRAINE 110%!!! ![]()

hey guys,
please be polite, i’m a little tired of political agenda. Still I have to say, although born in Donezk region i feel myself ukrainian and would never want to be part of russia again. whoever wants to live in Empire again can move to Russia.
On a football note, I feel great joy and pride for our team. Finally, people stop asking where in Sweden i’m from looking at the yellow-blue flag, Ukraine is on the map!!!
Having seen Italy against Ukraine in Lausanne friendly i would say, nothing to be afraid of, but as we have seen during this WC class is class and 1/4 WC is by no means a friendly.
Another worrying trend in Ukraine team is that they seem to play one bad game(Spain, Tunisia) and than one good one(Saudi Arabia, Swiss). Hope they can change the trend this time…
Go Ukraine, we trust in you!

I’ll take Australian flag with me to the bar ![]()

Just heard that the Italian Ref has been sent home from WC owing to the Scandal in Italian Football. Half of the Italian WC team are made up from the 4 clubs in disgrace along with refs etc for the match rigging. So the Italians will tell us it is not the players but those higher up, well I say it is the Player who is told what to do and cheat. Would he jump in a fire if his boss told him too? *edited*
So Ukraine Go play your hearts out the world is behind you 100% you will be WC heros we know you have the skill, technic and the will and your also honest.
Win for yourselves, win for your country and win for Australia, we will be watching and supporting you all the way.

HEY ItI Fiero,
If you are going to write in English then please use a dictionary, what are trying to say is something a five year old would write.
I suggest you read the internet and see what the world is saying about Italian ’so called’ football. Even your ref has been sent home from the WC over this Italian League soccer scandal. I personally think the Italian team should withdraw gracefully from the WC most of your players in this team are made up from the 4 ‘bent’ teams in court so the jury is out. It will be grate to see these so called team in second division ha ha
Cheats never prosper they just end up with egg on their face and have to eat humble pie!
Go Ukraine Go Ukraine the world is behind you 100%
And for your information I am English, born and brought up in Merseyside have lived in many countries around the world but would never live in Italy. Have to have some standards

Boris from Germany,
I personally will be fine with a bad game from Ukraine tomorrow if it delivers the goodies… like the bad one against Tunisia… ![]()

mr marco, PASTA - EATER from Italy, We do know something about football and are modest enough to say its only something. We don’t strut about like you people saying WE ARE THE REAL FOOTBALLERS THE REST ARE ALL CRAP. and the little football we know, and the rest of the world knows tells us that THE ONLY THING ITALY DO IS CHEAT, FIX AND DIVE. I’m happy that my country does not play football. Because they would have to resort to what you mafioso do on the field…..
to the rest of the fans on this blog, i.m sorry to be involved in this slanging match but then i can’t stand the way italians claim they own the game.
Go Sheva, show them how to play football. Thank goodness you already moved to Chelsea. Otherwise they would fire you like they did that korean. Ukrainians, watch out for the always - on diving show.

Stop Italy. you go for it you are entitled to you opinion, this is a free blog and anyone can state what they think etc. You have an opinion you voice it, some may not agree with it, some will, but what ever you want to say is welcome. I am sure on any blog as long as it is not racist and very preferrably non offensive and vulgar. I am interested in what you said, Marco in my opinion needs to learn a little respect. Everyone states their own opinion thats all it is an opinion! The last person I have heard of who had the infinite wisdom to “Know it all’ was nailed to a cross.

I agree with PP but why to say “pasta-eater” or other stupid stereotypes? It’s clearly used to offend us…we never said something against Indian traditions. “Stop Italy”, how do you feel if I offend your cows? scuse my bad english. Peace
